Taking FET forward in Free State!
CUT and Further Education and Training Colleges (FET’s) are embarking on a new collaboration to provide and advance access of youth to further training and higher education institutions in the province. The collaboration is intended to bring CUT and FET colleges in the province together and focus on exploiting CUT’s focus on Science, Engineering, and Technology as its core business.   This collaboration also gives effect to the provisions of the amendments of the Act governing FEE colleges and the establishment of common admission requirements between CUT and FET colleges in the province.

The envisaged areas of cooperation include the following:
  • conceptualisation, development for the DHET post-school education and training policy.
  • Articulation and credit transfer of offerings and programmes of FETCs into CUT.
  • CUT access and bridging programmes for students from FET colleges.
  • Continuous professional development (CPD) of FET Lectures.
  • Upgrading of FETC lecturers qualifications.
  • Recognition of prior learning for students from the FETC sector.
  • Partnerships aimed to assist in improved retention and throughput rate.
  • Curriculum analyses and development to ensure smooth progression for students from colleges to CUT and substantive curriculum development and pedagogy of FETCs for the changing markets of the new economy.
  • Career guidance in the curricula of FETCs.
