Strategic campus tour strengthens oversight ahead of Council meeting
The Planning, Finance and Resources Committee (PFRC) members joined CUT leadership for a strategic campus walkabout to assess major infrastructure developments and review project progress.

Mr Setumo Llale, Executive Director: Resource Operations (ResOps), welcomed the PFRC members and led them on a tour of the campus.
On 17 March 2026, the office of the Executive Director Resource Operations, led by Mr Setumo Llale, welcomed the Planning, Finance and Resources Committee (PFRC) to the Bloemfontein Campus for a strategic tour of key infrastructure sites. The visit formed part of the Committee’s routine oversight responsibilities ahead of the Council meeting taking place on 18 March 2026.
During the walkabout, committee members visited several priority development projects, including the Free State Sports Science Institution, where they received detailed updates on construction milestones, project timelines and progress toward operational readiness. These engagements provided valuable insight into the university’s capital investment programme and the ongoing enhancement of its physical environment.
To strengthen alignment on governance and risk matters, the Chairperson of the Audit, Risk and Integrity Committee, Councillor C Moshao, also participated in the tour. Her involvement enabled direct observation of infrastructure related risks and challenges, as well as opportunities for improved collaboration between committees. This joint engagement is expected to enhance institutional oversight and reinforce alignment between the PFRC and ARIC within the University’s broader risk management framework.

Mr Tshepo Phehlane, acting Senior Director: Estate and Infrastructure facilitating the tour.
