Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) statement on recent controversial public podcast remarks: Reaffirming our commitment to Inclusivity and Respect

The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is deeply concerned about the growing discourse on social media regarding the recent statements made by CUT FM's Station Manager during a public podcast. These statements, which have sparked significant controversy and raised concerns due to their offensive nature, stand in stark contrast to the values upheld by CUT.

The University is firmly distancing itself from her remarks and actions. These do not align with its core principles, values, or policies.  We are actively working to ensure a safe environment for everyone, including our students, who remain our priority. Our commitment to integrity, accountability, and the highest ethical standards remains steadfast.

Although her statements were made in a personal capacity, the gravity of the situation requires decisive action. The University is assessing the content of her statements and will be launching a thorough and impartial investigation.

We respectfully urge the public and our university community to allow the due process to unfold. The findings of this investigation will be instrumental in guiding the university as we determine any necessary next steps.

Our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals is paramount. We recognise that feeling secure in academic and professional contexts is vital, and we steadfastly resolve to uphold this standard for everyone within our community.
