Schools compete for 2013 "Quiz Wizz Champions"
Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at CUT recently hosted their annual High School Quiz to promote the importance of Science, Technology and Environment fields.

The anticipated Quiz - now in its 15th year - had eight new schools from the central region participating for the first time. The schools are put through their passes with various preliminary rounds hosted in Bloemfontein, Welkom and Kimberley, eliminating schools before reaching the prestigious final event. This year, Grey College triumphed in the final round against their old rivals; Jim Fouché and Sand du Plessis High Schools.

“Although this was their sixth participation in the final rounds (since 1999), it was only for the second time that the Grey Boys earned the title of “Quiz Whizz Champions” following their victory in 2001.” said event organiser Mr Carel Korff, Department of Civil Engineering. The prizes for the first place winners, included two bursaries worth R5 000 each, for two students to study towards any career field at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology in 2014. All three finalist schools will receive study bursaries to the total value of R18 000.
