The official opening of the University is an important event in the calendar of the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT).  It is on this occasion that the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof. Thandwa Mthembu delivers his State-of-the-University Address, a presentation that captures the achievements of the university as well as the key challenges that it faces.  Further, it is an opportunity to welcome new students to the university, and to thank their parents for supporting them in making CUT their university of choice.

The official opening of the university in 2014 is particularly significant as CUT will be celebrating 10 years as a University of Technology. In our quest to demonstrate public accountability to all of our students, their families, staff, and all partners including media, government, business and industry, the opening ceremonies are held at both campuses of the university, namely in Welkom and in Bloemfontein. CUT uses this important function to inspire the continued support from all its partners to rally behind Vision 2020. We therefore urge all staff members, students, partners and community to attend this important ceremony. Welkom Campus, 6 February 2014 Bloemfontein Campus,  08 February 2014.
