Key stakeholders commit support for CUT to establish a 4th IR Innovation Hub in 2020
The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) has received a financial commitment of R5 million from the Free State Provincial Government and international investors towards establishing a Fourth Industrial Revolution Innovation Hub in 2020.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Premier of the Free State, Honourable Sisi Ntombela, and the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of CUT, Prof. Henk de Jager at the Fourth Industrial Revolution Summit hosted at Pacofs in Bloemfontein on 28 November 2019.
The Minister of Communications, Telecommunications and Postal Services, Honourable Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, was present and applauded the Free Staters for this strategic move and also added that her department would ensure that the CUT has online courses for digital skills offered soon.
The Free State Summit on Industry 4.0 was attended by the Free State MEC of Police, Honourable Sam Mashinini, MEC of Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA), Honourable Makalo Mohale, MEC for Finance, Honourable Gadija Brown, MEC for Education, Honourable Tate Makgoe, Mayor of Matjhabeng Municipality, Nkosijali Speelman, Acting Mayor of Mangaung Metro Manuciipality Molefi Morake, CEO of Renegern, Mr Stefano Marani, members of academia, and entrepreneurs. The youth of the Free State and surrounding regions were a particularly important group of attendees to the summit.
