JAMK University and CUT formalises partnership
On 9 November 2017, the CUT welcomed delegates from JAMK University of Applied Science in Finland. The purpose of the visit was to formalise a collaborative agreement with CUT formed during a visit to JAMK University by a senior delegation from CUT.

The delegates also aimed to meet the university officials and academic staff to discuss academic and research collaborations as well as engage in discussions with the international office about the implementation of the collaboration and explore funding modalities that will support mobility between CUT and JAMK. The added benefit to the collaboration is to increase CUT’s visibility in Finland and have an increased prospective to funding modalities such as Erasmus+ K107 and K2 project. In his comments, Prof. Henk de Jager, Vice-Chancellor and Principal said that the two institutions share many similarities which makes the partnership ideal. “I think there are a lot of similarities between us. We need to broaden the scope of innovation and entrepreneurship and focus on staff and postgraduate student exchange programmes. With commitment from both institutions, we can rest assured that this partnership will grow immensely.” Dr Jussi Halttunen, Rector at JAMK University of Applied Science, said that he is impressed with the university on its research and development. “We hope to find more areas of collaboration which will benefit us both, and we are also looking forward to having good partners in South Africa. I believe that we could share the same ideas for further development.” JAMK University of Applied Sciences is an international higher education institution with expertise in 8 different fields of study with more than 8000 students from over 70 countries.
