Hotel School awards the best in the faculty
In acknowledgement and honour of the best academic performing staff and students, the Department of Hospitality Management in the Faculty of Management Sciences held its annual prestige awards on 25 May 2017.  

The event is not only focused on rewarding top academic performers, but it is also intended to strengthen partnerships with stakeholders, attract high-quality students and ultimately expose them potential employers and sponsors for financial support towards their studies. Among these sponsors were Luxury Hotels which contributed R142, 098 worth of bursaries, Tsogo Sun R 92 000, Saxon Hotel Villas & Spa contributed R50, 000, KAKGO Events 228 000, while Shoprite group contributed R 200 000 worth of bursaries. The top academic performers for 2016 went to: 
Best 1st-year students: Willa Greyling, Jamanca Vorster and Johan Minnaar
Best 2nd-year students: Angela Mabaso, Denise Ackerman, Juanita Kriel and Bianca Viljoen
Best 3rd years: Adrielle Rehder, Zante Smith and KD Gaohose 
Best BTech students: Chloe de Villiers, Jadine Potgieter and Palesa Mosakitsana 
Most Professional student: Angela Mabaso (3rd year) 
Student ambassador: Thato Lehasa (3rd year) 
Service Excellent (staff): Gerrit Zulch (Vin Do) 
Cum Laude National Diploma: Adrielle Rehder, Zante Smith and KD Gaohose 
Cum Laude BTech: Chloe de Villiers and Jadine Potgieter

2: The hotel school also took the opportunity to award High Schools for the poster competition where they designed visual posters of what hospitality means to them and Fichardtpark High School took the prize and earned themselves R 10 000 for designing the best poster.
