On 14 April 2023, the Central University of Technology hosted the 2023 Enactus regional competition, where three universities (CUT, Sol Plaatje University and the University of Free State Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa Campuses) participated.

The teams presented their digitally recorded outreach project videos to their peers and a panel of judges. They then assessed and evaluated the project that effectively demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership to drive business and innovation for sustainable impact, the planet, and prosperity within the last year. Of the three universities, Enactus-CUT came tops and secured 1st position for their worm farming project.

The teams were scored according to the judging criterion developed by Enactus Worldwide. The winning team is set to advance to the 2023 Top 12 National Competition, which will compete for the National Champion title and an opportunity to represent South Africa at the 2023 Enactus World Cup at Utrecht, Netherlands.

When sharing his experience as Enactus alumni, Mr Sekoele Ramajoe said that his journey has been pleasant as an Enactus member. He mentioned that through this programme, he was able to develop and put into practice the ten CUT graduate attributes. “The Enactus programme has instilled the graduate attributes through different projects I have been involved in. Enactus has taught me to analyse a problem and develop solutions.”

He said that what matters most to them as agents of change is giving hope to the hopeless and making a lasting impact in communities they serve. “As agents of change, our role is to develop impactful solutions and bring hope to the hopeless communities.”
