CUT student shatters SA record and wins gold at National Biathlon Championships 2026
CUT Fourth-Year Radiography student sets new South African Biathlon Record: In the senior category, Ms Jayme-Sue Vermaas broke the South African record that had stood since 2023, claiming the gold medal. She was also ranked among the top three athletes overall across all age groups and recognised as one of the top three swimmers at the event.
The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of Miss Jayme-Sue Vermaas, a fourth-year Radiography student, who excelled at the South African Biathlon National Championships 2026, held in Oudtshoorn on 21 March.
Competing in the senior women’s category, Jayme-Sue delivered an exceptional performance, breaking the South African record that had stood since 2023 with an impressive total of 2167.58 points. She secured the gold medal and was further recognised as one of the top three athletes overall across all age groups, as well as one of the top three swimmers at the event.
