CUT Responds to Allegations Raised on Social Media

The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) has noted videos circulating on social media in which one of the University's current students raises concerns regarding her experience in a university residence and makes allegations of sexual harassment involving a staff member.

The University views all allegations of sexual harassment, gender-based violence (GBV), abuse, discrimination, and victimisation with the utmost seriousness. CUT maintains a zero-tolerance approach to any conduct that compromises the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of members of the University community.

The University is committed to ensuring that all allegations of this nature are addressed through appropriate institutional processes that are fair, independent, confidential, and consistent with the principles of natural justice and due process. These processes are designed to protect the rights of all parties while ensuring that allegations are properly investigated and appropriate action is taken where warranted.

The University encourages any person who has experienced or witnessed sexual harassment or gender-based violence to report the matter through the University's established reporting mechanisms. Reports may be submitted safely and confidentially through the University's Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) reporting portal:

In addition to facilitating formal reporting, the University wishes to assure students and staff that support services are available to individuals who may require assistance, counselling, or guidance throughout the reporting process.

The University will continue to address all reported matters with the seriousness, sensitivity, fairness, and confidentiality they deserve, while respecting the rights and dignity of everyone involved.
