CUT recognise staff members for long service
Ms Lillian Dube, one of South Africa’s much loved personalities, joined Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) to honour the long service of staff.  Best known in the SABC1 drama series “Soul City” for her role as Sister Bettina, and “My Perfect Family”, she starred in the SABC2 sitcom “Skwizas”.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, she took the opportunity to highlight the importance of self-awareness about their bodies. She said, “Know your body, do self-examination and go for mammogram if you are over forty. If something feels off, you have to be able to recognise it and get yourself examined” she said.  Her message coincided with the Breast Month in October which aimed at bringing about breast cancer, how it can be prevented and treated.   Long service to an organisation takes dedication and hard work – members of CUT staff were honoured and recognised for their contribution to the advancement of the university, hard work and long years of association with CUT and its traditions of excellence and innovation.  Their hard earned long service ranged from ten to thirty years.   Pictured is a group of staff members with 20 years or more of service; in the middle of the group is Ms Lillian Dube.
