CUT joins millions of people across the globe in commemorating the life of former President Nelson Mandela.  His long standing commitment to freedom, peace, justice and equality for all South Africans has brought a country together. We awarded a Doctor Technologiae in Education (honoris causa) degree to the then retired first black president of South Africa and anti-apartheid revolutionary, the university was inspired by Madiba’s valuable contribution in advancing education and his courage for creating non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous nation. For CUT this was rare privilege as the only former Technikon at the time to have awarded Mr Mandela with an honorary doctorate. Our heartfelt condolences to Ntate Madiba’s family and South Africa in this moment of grief. In our hearts forever.
