CUT Ladies Soccer Team are at the Sasol National Championship playoffs in Limpopo
The CUT Ladies Soccer Team got a rousing send-off on 17 October 2022, as they prepared to represent not only CUT but the Free State Province at the Sasol National Championship playoffs, currently underway at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo (18-23 October 2022).
Their inclusion in the playoffs stems from a victory against the CUT Welkom ladies soccer team (Ixias FC-Welkom Campus) in the Sasol Provincial League finals on 18 September 2022, which earned them first place and a record of straight wins!
Mr Thando Mboxwana, Deputy Manager: CUT Operational Sports, congratulated the team on their victory and on earning themselves a place to represent the institution and province at the Sasol National Championships. He also applauded the technical team for working tirelessly to achieve such victory. “The team has made us proud as an institution, and although they still have a long way to go, they are a few steps closer to their dreams and we are behind them all the way,” he said.
CUT FC Chairperson, Patrick Malokase, said “we are proud of you, and we believe in your abilities. We are not only going there to add numbers but to conquer.”
“Our aim is not only to win the Sasol National Championship, but to see ourselves playing as far as the Hollywoodbets Super League,” said Captain Rethabile (Stich) Tsetse.
Lerato Tlale, a representative from the Department of Correctional Services motivated the team when she visited. She encouraged them to unite and work towards a common goal. “You have been presented with an opportunity of a lifetime, and this is your time to shine. Always remember that unity is strength” she said.
