CUT congratulates the Ladies Hockey Team and Coach Tarrin Ramsden on their dedication, sportsmanship, and outstanding representation of the university. Their efforts embody the values of perseverance, teamwork, and excellence that continue to define CUT Sport.

The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) Ladies Hockey Team proudly represented the university at the 2026 USSA Hockey Tournament, held at Stellenbosch University from 29 June to 3 July. Competing in the fiercely contested B Section against eight other universities, the 17-player squad travelled from the Free State determined to test themselves against some of the country's top university hockey talent.

The tournament featured about 20 South African universities, along with one international institution, with teams competing across the A, B and C Sections in one of the biggest events on the university hockey calendar.

Guided by head coach Tarrin Ramsden, the CUT side delivered a spirited campaign, playing five matches and securing three impressive victories. Match after match, the team showcased resilience, discipline and grit, refusing to back down against tough opposition. Their determination on the field was matched by the strong sense of unity and sisterhood that defined the squad throughout the week. With the unwavering support of their coach and team manager, the players pushed one another to compete with confidence and pride.

CUT wrapped up the tournament in fifth place in the B Section. While the final standings fell short of the team's ultimate goal, the competition was marked by resilience, determination and steady growth. The squad demonstrated remarkable growth, impressive competitive spirit, teamwork and a never-say-die attitude throughout the tournament, gaining invaluable experience against quality opposition.
