CUT journos shine bright in Campus Get it
As part of their curriculum, Language Practice students are exposed to industry by integrating theory with hands-on experiential learning and by encouraging them to apply their knowledge from their first year of study.

As such, CUT places third-year Language Practice students at media enterprises to familiarize themselves with the world of work and all the challenges that industry has to offer.  Recently two of our students had the opportunity to write and publish their stories for Campus Get it – a once off edition of the Mahareng Publishing Group, who is responsible for the Get it magazine. According to Louwna Erasmus, Editor of Get it, the campus edition of Get it was an initiative of the Bloemfontein office.

However, not all the branches bought into the concept and only two issues were supplied: One by University of Johannesburg and one by the University of the Free State and CUT. Erasmus says that the Bloemfontein edition came out tops! The CUT Language Practice students who contributed to the edition were Amanda Timbe, a fourth-year student, and Pule Seleke, a third-year student. Amanda did a write-up on Kovsie Rag Queen Lesya Kasselman, whilst Pule interviewed Mini Cooper Brand Ambassador and on-air personality DJ Shaxe Khumalo.
