CUT hosts 2017 Career Fair
Students visited different companies’ stalls to explore and find those that match their competency skills and career paths. Potential employers and exhibitors were willing to assist the graduates and provided them with as much information on the demands of the industry, potential networking opportunities and also, provided a broader view of thoughts beyond the boundaries of a specific qualification.


On 16 May 2017, the Career Office at the Central University of Technology, Free State held its 12th  annual Career Fair at Bloemfontein campus and 8th annual Career Fair on9 May at Welkom campus. The event focused on marketing CUT students and graduates to the world of work; affording them an opportunity to meet face-to-face with potential employers; acquiring more information and profiles about their preferred companies; and learning more about the industry and job opportunities. Students visited different companies’ stalls to explore and find those that match their competency skills and career paths. Potential employers and exhibitors were willing to assist the graduates and provided them with as much information on the demands of the industry, potential networking opportunities and also, provided a broader view of thoughts beyond the boundaries of a specific qualification.

The fair was not only about graduate recruitment, but also about building strategic partnerships and addressing the developmental needs and unemployment rate of the Free State Province; particularly among youth. This year, 19 companies attended the career fair and the Department of Mineral Resources was awarded a certificate for its 5th year of attendance and participation while Standard Bank walked away with the best stall prize.
