CUT connects students with business and industry at Welkom Campus

The annual Career Fair provides valuable opportunity for hardworking students who have intent to achieve goals, to meet relevant companies in their fields of study.

Welkom Campus recently hosted its Career Fair at their newly-built Student Academic Support Centre. “We do this every year. It allows our students the opportunity to explore the industry and engage with representatives of various exhibiting companies.” said Ms Maritha Bosch, Careers Officer at CUT.  “We find as many potential employers, and give them the opportunity to market their companies and recruit potential candidates from CUT.  These one-on-one engagements are unique experience for the students to showcases what CUT has to offer to business and industry” said she. CUT’s Careers Office (link) equips students with the necessary competencies to successfully compete in the highly competitive labour market and to connect graduates with employers in different sectors of the economy. The event was officially opened with a brief welcome speech by the campus manager, Dr Solomon Makola. 

The successful event saw Marketing and Human Resource Management students assisting the companies and managing the CV-Clinic in which CUT students were educated on how to write a professional Curriculum Vitae (CV). This year’s career fair was well attended by companies and stakeholders such as ETDP SETA, Edu-loan, South African Police Services (SAPS), Department of Labour, Oos Vrystaat Kaap Bedryf (OVK) , Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Accounting and Commerce (IACSA), Small Entreprise Development Agency (SEDA), as well as First National Bank (FNB).
