CUT commemorates 62nd Women’s Day anniversary
“What makes you a woman? Is it the pairs of shoes and handbags you own, your physique or the cars you drive? The hair or the make-up you put on?” These are the words from Ms Magauta Kenke, CUT Psychologist and a guest speaker at the 62ndWomen’s day anniversary held on 23 August 2018. The celebration was to honour the role that women play in their societies, their strength and courage.
Ms Kenke challenged women on the issues of unity, solidarity and support of one another. She further advised them to take care of their “emotional bank account”, as it represents their sacred space where they draw their strength and wisdom and lay their weaknesses and vulnerabilities. “The emotional bank account must be deposited with positive things to ensure that it has a positive balance. A negative balance in your ‘emotional account’ means that as a woman, you are bitter, and your space is polluted with negativity, and unfortunately, it will affect what you give to those around you. A woman with a positive ‘emotional bank account’ does not compete with other women because she has no competition, but rather, a unique strength that continues to make her flourish to greater heights. A positive woman surrounds herself with a positive support network, non-toxic relationships, understands her purpose and is able to add value to those around her,” she said.
