CUT celebrated excellence, innovation, and dedication at the 2026 Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards, honouring employees whose outstanding contributions continue to shape the university’s success and advance its Vision 2030 aspirations.
Recognising achievement across teaching, research, innovation, community engagement, and support services, the awards highlighted the collective efforts of individuals who drive academic excellence, strengthen research impact, enhance student success, and contribute to the effective functioning of the institution.
Acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof. Samson Mashele, applauded the winners for their exceptional contributions and the lasting impact of their work on the university and society.
“Your achievements deserve to be celebrated not only for what you have accomplished, but also for what they represent for the university, for our students, for our communities and for the future of our country,” he said.
Prof. Mashele emphasised that excellence shows up in every corner of the university, from academic and research achievements to the vital behind-the-scenes work that supports the institution’s mission.
“Excellence takes many forms. It does not have a single face, nor does it belong to one department, one profession or one category of employee.”
As CUT continues its journey towards Vision 2030, the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards powerfully celebrate the people whose passion, expertise, and commitment are transforming lives, advancing knowledge, and positioning the university for an even greater future. Through their collective efforts, excellence remains not merely an aspiration but a defining characteristic of the CUT community.
