Dr Setai has been with the university for more than ten years as a Member of Council and the Executive Committee of Council; Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee of Council; member of the former Finance Committee of Council; and member of the Institutional Forum and the Honorary Awards and Honorary Degrees Committee – a joint standing committee of Council and Senate. His selfless service to the university has been an inspiration to many of us who had worked closely with him.  We will continue to draw lessons from his wealth of knowledge. In honour of his contribution to the province, the business community and our university, the Premier’s Office, in conjunction with CUT, held a memorial service on 6 May 2015. He was a celebrated scholar, who taught economics at various universities in the USA and at the National University of Lesotho.  He contributed with his knowledge and skills to the three tiers of government including various international organisations such as ILO, UNIDO, FAO, UNDP and WHO, to name a few.  He was also a former Chairperson of the Financial and Fiscal Commission, a statutory body enshrined in the Constitution. His life was lived. He touched many hearts, but his love for the Free State province was evident. He was always a Free State son, and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to stand next to him. May his soul rest in peace.
