On 30 August 2019, Bloemfontein Campus celebrated Employee Appreciation Day following a successful one held at the Welkom Campus on 16 August 2019.
Dr Gary Paul, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Resources and Operations said that Employee Appreciation Day is not just an event but a journey of reflection.” As we celebrate this day, we walk through our journey and look back at where we are coming from as an institution and where we are heading. As part of our engagement with the unions, we saw the need to bring you all here today in this informal setting, to express and demonstrate our appreciation to you. You are all valuable and important to us, and we need your best efforts in advancing our university to greater heights. We also want to assure you that you are all equal and no employee is more important than the other.”
When giving thanks, both union representatives, Mr Titus Williams (NTEU) and Mr China Kokoana (NEHAWU) echoed the same sentiments and encouraged management to continue showing appreciation when good work is being done. We want to encourage all of you to do your best in your work and give your all in this journey of re-imagining CUT. Let us continue to work tirelessly and create an organisational culture that is conducive and encourages active participation.”
Employees were also encouraged to come up with innovative ideas on how to re-imagine CUT and the winner is Mr Gert Cronje, Manager: Wellness Centre.

To end the day, management, employees and unions challenged each to a fun game of soccer.
