Registration 2026: Fees payable to complete registration
For the upcoming academic year, all returning and new students, both South African and international, are required to pay the Minimum Initial Payment (MIP) by the published registration deadline.
What is the MIP?
The MIP is the minimum amount you must pay upfront to activate your registration. It is not your full fee, but a portion that confirms your commitment to study and allows you to access academic systems, timetables, and services. The exact MIP amount varies depending on your programme and residency status (South African or international). There are students, such as NSFAS and other bursary holders, who are exempted from the payment. See the 2026 Financial Guideline (PDF).
Information below is an extract from the guide.
