Communique to CUT community: Appointment of Dr SM Dzingwa as Institutional Registrar

Dear CUT Community

It is a great pleasure to inform you that the CUT Council approved the appointment of Dr SM Dzingwa as the Institutional Registrar, with effect from 01 July 2021. She will replace the incumbent Institutional Registrar, Dr N Mrwetyana, who have reached retirement age.

Dr Dzingwa holds the following qualifications: a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal; a Master of Administration (Research) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal; and a Doctor of Administration (PhD) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Dr Dzingwa joined Vaal University of Technology as Bursary Officer (1998 to 2002), and was later appointed as Faculty Administrative Officer (2002 – 2009). She joined the University of KwaZulu-Natal as Faculty Officer (2009 – 2010); and Witwatersrand University as Faculty Officer (2010 – 2012), where she was promoted to Senior Faculty Officer (2012). She then joined Vaal University of Technology as Deputy Registrar: Enrolment Services (2012 – 2018), and was promoted to Senior Deputy Registrar: Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) (2018 – 2022). Dr Dzingwa has published several articles in accredited journals and conference proceedings.

In addition, the CUT Council approved the extension of the contract of employment of the incumbent Institutional Registrar, Dr N Mrwetyana, for another month, until 31 July 2021, to allow for a comprehensive handover process to the incoming Institutional Registrar, Dr SM Dzingwa, in order to ensure a smooth transition from a governance and continuity perspective.

I kindly request you to warmly welcome her in her new position, and to provide her and her family with all the necessary support to successfully execute her duties.
