Mrs Debbie Appelgryn is the Deputy Director of Payroll within the Human Resources division at the Central University of Technology (CUT). With over 25 years of experience in payroll and financial administration, her career has progressed from administrative and financial roles into payroll management and senior leadership. She joined CUT in December 2014 and has since advanced through the positions of Payroll Consultant and Acting Payroll Manager before assuming her current role in August 2023.

Her extensive experience encompasses managing large-scale payroll operations, payroll systems, statutory and tax compliance, financial controls, reconciliations, reporting, and audit requirements. Prior to joining CUT, she served as the Group Payroll Manager at Country Bird Holdings, managing payrolls for over 7,000 employees. Beyond her strong technical expertise in systems such as ITS, Sage 300 People, and VIP Payroll, Mrs Appelgryn is deeply committed to leadership, people development, process improvement, and governance, ensuring her functions contribute meaningfully to the organisation's strategic objectives.
