Professional Background
Jaco Pietersen is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, where he primarily lectures water-related subjects.
He obtained an MTech Eng (Civil) from the Central University of Technology, Free State, in 2016. He is registered as a Professional Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and is currently studying towards a DEng in Civil Engineering at CUT.
Before joining CUT, he worked for five years at a civil engineering consulting firm in Bloemfontein.
His research interests include flood hydrology and water resources management, with particular interest in the impact of extreme rainfall and flood events on hydraulic structures.
