Professional Background

Prof. Leandi Steenkamp is an Associate Professor in Accounting and Auditing at the Central University of Technology (CUT). A Chartered Accountant (SA), Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Information Systems Auditor, she holds a PhD in Auditing and combines extensive academic experience with a professional background at PwC and the Auditor-General of South Africa.

Her research interests include internal auditing, governance and accountability, emerging audit technologies and artificial intelligence, professional education, and the accounting and auditing of sectional title property. She is an experienced postgraduate supervisor, examiner, and peer reviewer, and actively collaborates with professional bodies, industry partners, and national and international researchers. Beyond academia, Prof. Steenkamp is a founding member and Treasurer of The Rhapsody Orchestra, reflecting her deep commitment to community engagement and the arts.
