Additional Admission Requirements

Admission requirements

  • A recognised Bachelor’s degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in any field at NQF 7.
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL) (conditions apply).
  • Minimum two years of working experience.
  • A minimum average of 60% for final-year NQF level 7 qualification.

Optional instructional offerings

  • There are no optional modules. All instructional offerings are compulsory.

Credit transfer policy

  • Credit transfer through the recognition of subjects passed at the required NQF8 level is allowed, subject to other CUT rules that include, amongst others, at least a 75% content coverage of the CUT-equivalent subject.
  • Following CUT’s RPL policy (8.2d), a maximum of 39% credit transfers can be granted to a candidate because the modules are pitched on exit level of NQF level 8.

The PGDip (Entrepreneurial Management) meets the minimum entry requirements of a cognate Master’s degree, for example, the CUT’s MPhil (Management Science) and Master of Management Science in Entrepreneurial Management.

Career Opportunities

Entrepreneurial-minded people can apply their skills in a variety of sectors. Due to its entrepreneurial flair, successful learners can use their skills in various sectors, either as leaders/ managers of public or private enterprises that employ them or as leaders/ managers of their business ventures.

Program Objectives

The objectives of the envisaged programme are to (1) expose learners to the different entrepreneurial approaches in the different aspects of a business; (2) to develop overall entrepreneurship leadership and management competencies for sustainable livelihoods among learners; (3) develop good networking skills and ability to learn from best practices among the learners; (4) inculcate a sense of researching and evaluating aspects of businesses, from development, through finance, production, to marketing and sales among them; (5) promote a culture of taking initiatives among learners; (6) inculcate abilities to make decisions and to take risks.

The competencies captured in this qualification will enable the learner further to develop their functional and reflective understanding of business management. The qualification is intended to develop an integrated conceptual understanding, synthesis, and critical application of specialised knowledge and skills in business management and general management, organisational behaviour, human resource management, marketing, accounting, supply chain management, operations management, and economics. Learners will also master skills inherent in research and decision-making. Learners successfully mastering the competencies in this qualification will contribute to the broader society by making business decisions based on specific knowledge of specialised areas in business management.

 The qualification will allow students to study a unique, locally relevant, but prestigious and internationally applicable management qualification. The qualification is a planned combination of learning outcomes with a defined purpose that culminates in applied competence that will serve as the academic requirements for becoming an informed entrepreneur, working in commerce, industry, academia, and the public sector. Since the programme is interdisciplinary, the qualification provides lifelong professional growth in different fields of business, as it will offer membership to various professional bodies.
