Additional Admission Requirements

An appropriate Diploma or Bachelor’s degree at NQF Level 6 or Bachelor’s degree at NQF Level 7 with at least 360 credits in any relevant health-related profession, including health sciences, nursing and allied health. Prospective students employed in a health management environment would be beneficial.

Prerequisites

Due to the online blended learning nature of the programme, it is essential that prospective applicants are computer literate and have access to the internet.

Career Opportunities

The Advanced Diploma in Health Management is designed to develop the healthcare manager or a potential healthcare manager as part of the professional multi-disciplinary team to make informed and calculated decisions in the department. By doing so he/she will be able to apply specialised knowledge and technical skills for optimal decision-making in terms of management, health systems delivery, policy, law, social and health context, ethics and research.

Remarks

The purpose of the programme is to develop r knowledge related to the health care environment. The curriculum is based on work-place managerial roles. Assignments are practical and applied to work experience. For this reason, a student must be able to draw on practical knowledge and experience in the workplace. It is therefore highly recommended that the applicant is employed in a health-related setting at the time of enrolling for this qualification. Therefore, consideration will be given to applicants employed in health-related setting at the time of application. For this reason, it is recommended that a working student register for the part-time programme over two years.
