Library and Information Services during the adjusted lockdown level 4
CUT’s Library management has taken note of developments in the country that grossly affect the academic project of the university. What is of utmost importance is for the university community to have continued access to different types of information resources and the accompanying services. To this end, both the Welkom and the Bloemfontein library premises will be open throughout the extended two weeks’ lockdown period, with the physical and digital services availed from Monday the 19th of July as follows:
- Opening hours will be on weekdays only, Monday to Friday from 08:00 – 16:30. Library staff will operate in 3 teams and on rotation basis, as a means to reducing the number of staff in library buildings.
- The Bloemfontein library will accommodate 100 users (50 inside the library and 50 at the 24 hour study area). The Welkom library will accommodate 50 users on the ground floor only. This will be subject to strict adherence of all health protocols.
- Staff and students are reminded to adhere to the following health and safety protocols. These include a). wearing face masks at all times – no mask no entry; b). washing and/or sanitizing hands frequently; c). adhering to safe seating distances for study purposes, using designated signage; and d). avoiding moving chairs around for purposes of group discussions.
