Adjusted Teaching and Learning arrangements for academic year 2021

Dear CUT Staff and Students

Greetings to you all and hope that you are well.

The Acting DVC: Teaching and Learning, Prof AJ Strydom, communicated the Senate approved adjusted arrangements for the academic year to you on 18 March 2021.

Since then, the disruption of university operations by students’ protests, resulted in the fact that CUT could up until now only manage to register only 57.3% of the total intake of the new first-year students. Consequently, CUT also experienced challenges with payment of allowances and provisioning of data on time for classes to commence on 29 March 2021, as envisaged.

Against this background, the following is the adjusted arrangement for the academic year 2021:

  • All students will still be allowed to continue with registrations during the week of 29 March 2021 to 01 April 2021 while late registrations will be allowed until 13 April 2021;
  • Classes for both first-year and senior students will commence on 06 April 2021;
  • The new date for the virtual orientation is 31 March 2021.

Please accept my sincere apology for any inconvenience caused by the adjusted timelines mentioned above. We are fully committed to ensure that, with the support of all role-players concerned, the academic year 2021 will be a memorable one!

Prof. David Ngidi

Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning
