Office for International
Affairs
The aim of the
Office for International Affairs is to maintain
and to enhance the CUT’s profile of
providing internationally recognised
technological education. We co-ordinate all the
CUT's international activities and provide a
service for colleagues and students, as well as
for international visitors.
Our key areas of
activity are:
*
Links and co-operation agreements with
international
institutions
The Office for
International Affairs facilitates the forming
of links and co-operative agreements with a
number of institutions world-wide. This may be
between individual staff members and
international colleagues, departmental
agreements or formal agreements between the
institutions themselves. At the moment we have
13 signed agreements with foreign
universities
*
International student recruitment
It is the aim of
the CUT to increase the number of its full-time
international students, especially on
post-graduate level. To enhance these numbers
the office regularly visits overseas
institutions to market the CUT as a high
quality technological university. In addition
the Office participate in recruitment events
overseas. During 2004 we had about 1000 foreign
students on campus, most of them from SADC
countries
*
Student and staff exchanges
The Office works
closely with academic and support staff in the
CUT to co-ordinate and to streamline the
exchange of students and staff to and from
international institutions.
*
International visits by staff
The Office helps
with the planning of and finalising the
programmes and itineraries of staff members who
undertakes international visits or study
tours.
*
Support service for international
students
The welfare of
international students are one of our
priorities. We look after the specific needs of
our international students from the time of
their first contact with the CUT until the
student leaves the institution. This includes
pre-arrival information, help with finding
accommodation as well as an orientation
programme.
*
International visitors
The Office helps
with organising and implementing the programmes
for visiting academics or delegations.
