Higher Education and Leadership Skills Academy (HELSKA) Project

This strategic leadership programme is part of CUT�s Higher Education and Leadership Skills Academy (HELSKA), and reflects the university�s commitment to ensuring that our future generation of leaders is knowledgeable, informed, educated and equipped for the task of entrenching and sustaining democracy and improving socio-economic and human conditions in this province and beyond.

HELSKA is a Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) project offering a series of programs aimed at advancing the development of the next generation academic, and administrative human capital needs for an excellence focused public higher education system.

These programs will include the provision of fellowships to support high caliber candidates who intends making a life-long commitment to the pursuit of excellence in public higher education.

LEAD Project

SOAR Fellowship

The LEAD programme provides for a combination of formal, semi-formal and informal interventions. Each successful applicant will undergo an assessment that will assist in identifying their leadership and developmental trajectory. Based on this assessment, leadership interventions suited to the candidate will be developed and/or sponsored

A person intending to compete for participation in the LEAD Programme must:

� Be young, dynamic, innovative, i ntelligent and highly competitive.

� Have at least a post-matric certificate, diploma, degree or equivalent.

� Be a South African citizen, younger than 35 years old, residing in the Free State or neighbouring provinces.

� Have a proven leadership track record in whatever area of human endeavour, be it development, arts and culture, business, politics and others.

The SOAR fellowship can be a full scholarship or to supplement and existing scholarship.
