General

The Faculty of Engineering, Information and Communication Technology comprises of five schools namely: The School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment, the School of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, the School of Information and Communication Technology, as well as the School of Design Technology and Visual Art.

The programmes offered in the all the schools of the faculty equip diplomates and graduates with the necessary skills and expertise to be leaders in their chosen professions.  The key to the Faculty’s success is the high premium it places on innovation and working behind the scenes to promote the Faculty’s and the Institutions achievement in the field of Science, Engineering and Technology.  This is achieved through a benchmark system that ensures that training and research programmes always meet the highest standards.

All the schools within the faculty have extensive laboratory and computer facilities, and are well equipped to support a practical, project-oriented approach to learning.  Programmes are career focused and some include a year long experiential learning component at diploma level.  Through our different advisory boards that meet on a regular basis, we ensure that close contact with industry and the private sector is maintained and learning programmes remain relevant.

The research conducted in the Faculty is of an applied nature and is directed at the needs of industry and the community at large.  Research projects are generally well supported by local, national and international partners.

Our aim is to deliver world-class teaching and research while appreciating the need to be appropriately responsive to our African roots.
