NB: All registrations at the Lapeng Student Centre occur alphabetically and on specific dates and at specific times as follows:

Students whose surnames start with the letters A – K:      From     08:00

Students whose surnames start with the letters L – Z:       From     13:00

 

Classes for all students (first-year and senior) commence: 18 January 2010

(NB: Students may register at the Lapeng Student Centre between class periods on the specified dates and at the specified times.)

 

NB:       Late enrolments at all faculties close on 28 January 2010.

            Late registrations at the Lapeng Student Centre close on 29 January 2010.

 

What is meant by the following terms:

 

1.       “Enrolment”

 

This is the process whereby students enrol at the respective faculties for subjects specified on the enrolment form (offered for the relevant year/semester), and also whereby students personally sign the enrolment form and have it approved by the programme head.

 

2.       “Registration”

 

This is the process whereby students register at the Lapeng Student Centre for subjects on the computer system (ITS) and where an official registration voucher is printed and issued to the student. This registration voucher must be produced by the student for other processes.

 

3.       “Official opening”

 

All students and their parents/guardians are cordially invited to the official opening. Official opening ceremonies are held on the same day (but at different times) at the main (Bloemfontein) and Welkom campuses respectively. On this occasion, all first-year students will receive information on the orientation process.

 

4.       “Orientation process”

 

This is the process whereby first-year students undergo orientation in a variety of academic and non-academic topics.  They are also taught specific skills and are oriented in respect of the environment/campus. This process is essential and compulsory for all first-year students on the main campus.

 

5.       Steps to follow in completing the enrolment/registration processes

 

            (First) make your way to the faculty to complete your enrolment (please consult the table below if you are unsure of  the faculty to which you must report);

            Then make your way to the Artec Hall for financial control;

            Then go to the Lapeng Student Centre to register;

            Then go to the Gym Hall to collect your student card and/or parking disc (if applicable).

            NB: You must produce your registration voucher before you will be issued with a student card.
