Central University of Technology has a Total Academic Headcount (TAH) license for MATLAB, Simulink, and add-on products. Faculty, researchers, and students may use these products for teaching, research, and learning. The license allows individuals to install the products on university-owned equipment, as well as personally owned computers.

About MATLAB and Simulink

MATLAB, the language of technical computing, is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualisation, and numeric computation. Simulink is a graphical environment for simulation and Model-Based Design of multidomain dynamic and embedded systems. MathWorks produces nearly 100 additional products for specialised tasks such as data analysis and image processing.

Get access

For individual installation, follow the steps below. For multiple PC installations (for labs or classrooms) you need a connection to the University Network to use the Concurrent License as the license is obtained from a University License Server.

Faculty and Research Groups

(designated computer/research lab/s accessed by multiple users)

Designated Computer: Download the Installer

  1. Create a MathWorks Account using your university e-mail address (access CUT Student Webmail):
  2. Go to the License Center
  3. Click Add License in the upper right hand corner.
  4. Choose Associate by Activation Key and click Continue.
  5. When prompted, enter the Activation Key: 11870-97418-87016-18149-94759
  6. Go to the Download Centre
  7. Click the download button for the current release.
  8. Click the installer button to download the installer.

Designated Computer: Install and Activate

  1. Locate the installer you downloaded in a file browser. It should be located in the default downloadlocation, unless you specified another location. The name of the installer file is:
    • Windows: matlab_ _win64.exe
    • Mac OS X: matlab_ _maci64.zip Where represents the release number.
  2. Start the installer:
    • Windows: Double-click the installer file you downloaded in the previous step. The Windows Self-Extractor runs, and then the installer starts.
    • Mac OS X: Double-click the installer file you downloaded in the previous step. This action extracts the files and creates another folder called matlab__maci64, where represents the release number. Inside this folder, double-click InstallForMacOSX to start the installer.
  3. In the MathWorks installer, select Log in with a MathWorks Account and follow the online instructions.
  4. When prompted to do so, select the license you want to use.
  5. Select the products you want to download and install.
  6. After downloading and installing your products, keep the Activate MATLAB checkbox selected and click Next.
