A CUT MTech degree does not consist of “subjects”.  It is purely research-based, and requires students to complete a full research dissertation as well as a module in Research Methodology (if you have not done it previously).

How long do you have to complete the study

Students have to complete their studies within a period of 4 years.


As per the CUT Calendar, you need the following to qualify for MTech studies

  MTech Internal Auditing MTech Cost and Management Accounting
Average mark at B.Tech level At least 60% At least 60%
Mark in Research Methodology (NMT11BB) At least 60% At least 60%
Passed the following subjects Internal Auditing IV (IDT41/42AB)

Information Systems Auditing IV (ISA42AB)

Financial Management IV (FNB42BB)

Management Accounting IV BSR41/42AB)

A suitable research project in the field of specialisation Submit a draft proposal (see below) Submit a draft proposal (see below)

Submit your proposal

Interested parties should email the following information to llubbe@cut.ac.za:

  • The most recent academic record.
  • A typed proposal of at least one page on the planned research project.
    • Word document, Arial 12, 1.5 spacing.
    • If there is more than one possible topic, please submit all ideas.

 Submission Date

Given the prestige of these qualifications and limited supervisors, all applications must be submitted by 31 August each year.
