In line with CUT’s 2020 vision a legal and commercial entity in the form of a Trust was established. The purpose of the trust is to stimulate and grow third income stream to support operations of the university through commercialisation of its resources, intellectual property, fundraising activities etc. By so doing the university intends to utilize this entity also as a platform to conceptualize and implement potential solutions primarily for socio-economic and technological challenges faced by regional and national environment ultimately extend globally.

It thus becomes imperative for the Trust to bear innate strength in agility and quick reaction to demands of the markets in order to enable rapid market access, partnering with key stakeholders and promote entrepreneurial skills, self-empowerment of the communities it serves and bring to bear SMME spin-offs etc.
