SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS

CUTLERY

A local manufacturer of cutlery needed to enlarge his market share and also try to export to other countries. The way to do this was to add nice designs to his cutlery. This could mean very expensive steel tools to be made to punch or cast the cutlery. We have suggested he provided us with art designs out of clay or a medium the artist are comfortable to use. We used this design to create Silicone moulds to be able to cast pewter masters. These masters were used to vulcanize HTV moulds. These moulds was then used to cast the designs onto his cutlery.

KNIFE SHARPENER

A very rough idea was taken and redesigned to be able to reproduce this device in large quantities. The original design was a plate bended and welded casing in which a diamond belt run over 3 pulleys. The pulleys was driven by means of a ordinary bench grinder. The design was done with a casting in mind which will be light and robust. The design was finalized with the Alluminium casting process in mind.

Prototypes were grown on the SLS in Duraform Polyamide. These prototypes was used to produce a working prototype with which the customer could test his market and also make sure it is what he want.

After the design was finalized a Alluminium casting was made of the housing. The final products will be manufactured at the Technikon and the customer will sell it.
